Halvor scanned the area with his subdermal ocular implants, the iridiscent blues shifting as they assessed the path ahead. He stepped over the fallen bodies on the science deck. Holding a medical kit in one hand and carrying a phaser in the other, the Klingon in a blue medical uniform slowly walked along the corridor, searching. Kneeling before a fallen security officer, he felt his pulse on the neck. Nothing. Keeping his stoic calmness and unflinching detachment, he rose to his feet and stepped over the cold, lifeless body. With his braided locs draped over his shoulders, his eyes scanned for movement, heat, or life.
A faint clatter echoed nearby. He stopped. Sniffing, his nose flared as the burnt scent wafted past. Staying tight to the wall, he advanced and found two more fallen officers on the deck. Dropping to one knee between them, the medic scanned their bodies and checked for pulses. Nothing. A new sound skittered ahead, fast and light. Looking up, Halvor's forehead ridges tightened. Gripping his phaser, the young Klingon moved toward the noise, medical kit held close. A low groan reached his ears from a half-opened door.
Holstering his phaser, he grabbed the edge of the half-open door. Pressing his back to the frame, he shoved against the jammed door. Metal groaned under his strength as he slowly forced the opening wider, just enough to slip through. A fallen lieutenant lay inside, a female half-Vulcan pinned beneath a slab of twisted metal. Halvor move to her immediately.
Kae Din barely opened her eyes. Through the haze of pain, she saw a Klingon medic with iridescent blue eyes approaching. She grunted, her bloodied hand tightening around her phaser. Not recognizing him, she rasped, "Ha-halt. Wh, ah, who are you?"
"Halvor Nex'Veq of the House of Ral'Chx," he replied, voice steady and clipped. He set the medical kit beside her and activated a scanner, sweeping it over her injuries with practiced precision.
The device beeped steadily as it processed her vitals. Kae squinted her eyes and studied him with a raised brow. Despite the pain, she whispered, "Huh."
"Halvor," he added quickly, pulling a hypospray from the kit. He pressed it to her neck, the hiss of the injection soft but immediate. "As many of my colleagues call me." He checked the scanner again. "You have minimal trauma, possible micro-clotting, and a forearm laceration. Manageable."
He closed the scanner, picked up a dermal regenerator, and swept it across the wound on her arm. The torn skin knitted together under the soft blue glow. Kae grunted softly, her muscles tensing under the strain of the slab of metal across her hip. As her forearm regained feeling, she moved her arm under the debris despite her internal body warning her of the physical strain against her injuries. Sensing her stress, Halvor placed the device down and quickly helped her move the debris off her body. It crashed against the floor as Kae yelped softly, recoiling her back while clutching her bleeding torso.
Picking up his medical tricorder, he scanned her new wound, assessing her new injury. Waving the regenerator, the soft glow knitted her skin, reforming the hole to prevent further complications. Kae grunted softly, shifting upward. Halvor aided her movement as she rested her back against the wall. She replied, her expression flat and without gratitude, "Odd to see a Klingon medic, ensign."
Studying his iridescent blue eyes, she cocked her head and raised her eyebrow, adding without care, "What the f--k happened to your eyes?"
"Born blind," Halvor grunted, hiding his discomfort at her inquiry. He turned his head quickly, hearing the same skittering from before. It sounded faint, as if it retreated. Turning his attention to the assistant security and tactical officer, he replied, "We should move."
"Agreed," Kae grunted, getting up. He helped her up while picking up the kit. Half carrying her back through the half-closed doorway, they walked along the corridor as she guided them, "Head this way. Thought I saw some survivors camping out."
The Klingon medic grunted softly, his iridescent blue eyes scanning the corridor. Supporting Kae's muscular physique with her arm draped around his shoulder, they neared the main part of the science deck.
