Astraja wandered into medical, seemingly at random and looked around. She caught a nurse's attention and was directed to the Chief Medical Officer.
"Hello Doctor," she said offering a datapad. "I am Lieutenant Kyan, freshly transferred to the Athena. I just had a full medical on the USS Gwydion a few weeks ago, it is all there." he nodded to the datapad. "But if you feel the need, I can sit for another, just let me know what fits best with standard procedure."
Michael looked the Andorian over briefly. She seemed to be in perfect condition and fit for service. Physicals was the biggest thing Michael hated about shipboard duty. "I am Doctor Ki the Chief Medical Officer around here. Procedure would dictate that I give you a physical. However, seeing as your most recent one was only a couple of weeks ago I don't see a reason to do another one. Is there anything I should know Lieutenant?"
Astrja paused in thought, quashing her initial reply. "I do not think so, Doctor. My sleep cycle was a little disrupted by the transfer but that should sort itself out with a good night's rest."
"Now, a question for you," she smiled. "Is there anything that Ops can do for medical? Are all your systems functioning to spec? All program patches properly installed?"
"At the moment everything is up to snuff. However, I have never activated the EMH since I boarded. I have no use for them. So at some point I guess you may want to have someone come and make sure that it still works." Michael spoke with an indifference in his voice. Just a tone that said he simply didn't care if the EMH worked or not.
"I understand that some people do not care for holographic crew," nodded Astrja, producing a datapad and making a note. "My cousin is on the Nelson right now, it is one of the new Inquiry-class designed to function with a primarily holographic crew. It looks like your EMH system is just a few weeks out from a scheduled maintenance checkup as it is, I will just move it forward. I can schedule it when you are not here if you wish."
Michael did not consider the EMH to be part of the crew. However, he could understand how engineers and operations officers would consider them part of the crew. "You can schedule it however it fits into your schedule. There is no need to work around me. A whole holographic crew you say. I wonder what would happen if an enemy should take out that ship's power grid?"
"I am sure that has been planned for," said Astrja. "I will ask next time I talk to Njalia." She made some notes. "Tentatively, I will be back tomorrow to run the checkup on the EMH, I just want to talk with the chief first and make sure I am not missing anything that needs to be done."
"Excellent Lieutenant. That sounds great, and thank you for the help." Michael took special note of the Lieutenant, someone who is eager to help is always useful when you need to get research done. Yet another member of his team. Things for a change looked up.
"Ops is here to help, Doctor," she said with a smile. "See you tomorrow."
