The woman's voice carrying the pointed words - "Are things going to plan?" from the shadow in the corner of his bedroom didn't take him by surprise any more. These days it was best to just assume someone or other was lurking in every shadow, ready to invade every moment of peace. It had been a trying day; Babanin was doing ok but he could be doing better.
Commander Cameron knew better than to turn around, but once again the owner of the voice hadn't considered the reflection angles in the window, and it was just enough to again make out a Romulan or Vulcan style of haircut and a pointed ear. "It is hard to tell. Babanin is playing true to form; aggravating witnesses who aren't going to be helpful to make them appear unnecessarily emotional in front of a Vulcan judge, landing some blows where he can. It's hard to determine where S'vRock sits on the whole thing..." he answered truthfully.
"If Babanin isn't up to this, it may be time to...replace him..." the woman suggested.
"No" Cameron replied. "That would draw too much attention. There are already so many loose threads which could be tugged on at any moment. Has our friend on board the Athena checked in?".
The woman paused, not answering immediately, as if weighing up what she should say: "No. However that is not unexpected. Our friend has probably decided not to risk exposure. If we can't replace Babanin, what do you suggest...?".
"Help him" Cameron immediately clipped back. "Formally release the files pertaining to White, Nerak, and make them usable in Court. That, and the ballistics reports, and security review of Kane's quarters..." it wasn't much, and using the planted evidence from Kane's quarters was a risk...but there was only one or two days left and his colleague had yet to land a knock out punch. Declassifying the reports for open Court would be beneficial.
"We will have to declassify them to that walking, talking furball as well..." the woman's voice warned with a nasty lashing referring to Commander to Ennien.
"I know" Cameron responded, annoyed that there might even be some perception that he didn't understand that evidence had to be release to both sides. "When will -" his voice was cut off as the presence within the shadows disappeared with a yellow glow across the room and the shrill shimmering noise of the long range Dominion personal transporters they used. "- it be available...?" he finished, to an empty room.
