| Personal History | Born in 2341 on Orion to a family of former pirates turned legitimate traders, Ryn was immersed in a world of exotic spices and diverse culinary traditions from an early age. His parents, Daxor and Lyra, instilled in them a sense of resilience and adaptability. Inspired by his family's adventurous spirit, Ryn applied to Starfleet Academy in 2359 but was initially rejected. Determined to succeed, Ryn attended a rigorous preparatory summer camp and reapplied in 2360, this time being accepted. He specialised in xenobotany, rising through the ranks over a 28-year career to Lieutenant Commander and serving on several starships. Ryn became known for growing crops in disused storage areas to supply fresh ingredients for the mess hall, showcasing his innovative approach to blending cultural culinary traditions. After retiring from active service in 2391 at the age of 50, Ryn pursued a culinary career, opening a highly acclaimed eatery renowned for its fusion of exotic flavours and unusual dishes. Despite the tragic loss of his wife, Thala, in 2393, Ryn continued to honour their shared love for innovation through his culinary ventures. In 2398, at 57, Ryn joined the USS Athena as a civilian, chef and agricultural specialist. |
