| Physical Description | Finn is fair with beachy blonde waves that cascade to her shoulders, though most of the time her hair is pulled back to keep it out her of her face. The occasional freckle can be found underlining her stary-like blue eyes, almost like sand meeting a watery shore. Those watery pools seem to hint at a sense of kindness which is almost hidden by a fiery streak of defiance. The rest of Finn's body is clearly toned, a shape she's maintained since she started surfing. Her body language always indicates a sense of calm confidence, even when she's not in such a state internally. |

| General Overview | Finnley is tough and determined. She comes from a long line of engineers and strives to live up to her family's legacy. She has a personal code that she always lives by which includes being prompt, following protocol, and performing her duties with precision. Finnley will do whatever is necessary to ensure the safety of her team and the crew as a whole. She often doesn't see a point in social niceties and can be very straightforward and blunt. Although she would never disobey a lawful order, Finnley doesn't have a problem with stating an objection. She has a fierce loyalty to those she considers close and would bend over backward to help, yet struggles with opening up to people. Especially about certain aspects of her past. Though she will do activities with friends on occasion, she is just as happy to curl up with a good research paper in her quarters alone. Sarcasm is her favorite form of communication. | |

| Personal History | Born in 2368 to Marine Combat Engineer (Finnley Quinn Keating VI) and civilian Physicist (Kacey Keating) in California, Finnley grew up with a love for the water and mechanics. The Keating family home is located on the coast and anytime they weren't moving from starship to starship for her father's assignments she was out on the water surfing. Surfing is the only passion that she shares with her mother. It's an easy activity to do alone (which worked out for Finnley since she's an only child) and served as a reprieve from the rigors that typically accompany the life of a Marine's daughter. For the most part, she has always wanted to follow the family tradition of becoming a Starfleet engineer. When they were on a ship for one of her father's assignments, she took every opportunity to be around him while he was in engineering. She has a knack for mechanics, a trait passed down for generations in her family. Anytime she wasn't in engineering, she was likely off with her best friend Tavin (who she considers a brother). Although her parents provided almost the perfect example of a successful relationship, Finn has only ever found herself in one such commitment which lasted for three years. The relationship ended abruptly in tragedy. Since then, Finn has found it incredibly difficult to form a deep connection with anyone even though she more recently opened herself up to the possibility of a relationship again. With the pain of her last relationship still lingering, she's found it just as well to become a workaholic instead of investing time in more connected relationships with people. Finn left home at the age of 16 to attend Admiral Farragut Preparatory School. Then, following the Keating legacy, Finnley applied to the academy and was accepted at age 18. Although she has an incredible knack for engineering, Finnley hates doing homework unless it explicitly involves engineering research and was distracted to an extent by a relationship that she considered to be serious. All of this was ultimately reflected in her grades where Finn on paper ranked in the middle of her class even though she had a lot of potential. After the Academy, Finn excelled in her assignment aboard the USS Midway for two years before transferring into an assistant chief position on the Equinox. She excelled there for three years before being offered a position on the Athena. |
