Physical Description		If not only for his piercing green eyes, or his long torso, James has a presence that never goes unnoticed in a room. His brown hair is neatly slicked back to a barber's delight, every follicle in just the right place not unlike the clean lines produced by a wake of a proton torpedo shooting through space. His hands, like his father, large and calloused from what seemed like a lifetime of violin lessons.

Personality & Traits

General Overview		Very ambitious and a quick problem solver, James is extremely creative almost to a fault - he is constantly thinking of new solutions for old problems that he sometimes overlooks traditional and standard practices. He is an extreme Starfleet loyalist, believing wholeheartedly in the guiding principles of the federation and would do almost anything to protect them.
Strengths & Weaknesses		James is extremely hardworking, he derives happiness and joy solely from duty. Though he is confident in his abilities, he will sometimes sell himself short in order to protect his image of humility. This has led to a history of worthy promotions passing by him and to his lesser qualified colleagues, one who now holds his own command.
Ambitions		James yearns for the journey, with a crew that encourages his ideas and inspires him to be truly confident with his own abilities and strengths. He has so much to offer a starship, and is ready to step up and speak out without fear of resentment. He is fascinated by the stars and hopes to discover new worlds, and alliances while protecting the guiding principles of the federation.

Personal History		James was born on earth to his Betazoid mother Leaxeno Kai and his human father, Joshua Brax. Leaxeno was a professor of astrophysics while Joshua was a professional pianist, this love of science and music was very much passed on to James. When James was 18, both of his parents were involved in a shuttle crash landing accident when they were en route to a astrophysics conference together - neither survived. This experience would shape James forever, not only because of his newfound adulthood but because of the responsibility that now fell to him of caring for his younger sister, Kiadi. Kiadi is very much like a daughter to James because of this, and though they are separated by eight years, they have grown even stronger and closer than he could have ever imagined. This protectiveness over his sister is exactly why James was furious when he had discovered Kiadi decided to enroll in Starfleet, he couldn't stand the thought of potentially losing her, too. It didn't matter, though because unlike Joshua, Kiadi is extremely stubborn and has her eyes set on Captain, no one will stand in her way. While he admires her ambition, James knows that she will have a much harder time in the academy than he did; while academics came easily to Kiadi she doesn't know how to adapt to situations, and becomes hot-tempered and even hostile when a situation doesn't go as predicted. He knew she would hate Commander Paris's warp theory course, he so often loved to deliver no-win scenarios. While James found these situations to be merely puzzles of logic, he knew Kiadi would lose her temper. Although she has a big journey ahead of her James is sure she will eventually succeed and graduate from the academy, and a piece of him can't help but feel a burst of overwhelming pride.
